Rank and Merit Badge Advancement in Troop 403

STEPS OF RANK ADVANCEMENT

  1. Scout learns skill requirements listed in Scout Manual.
  2. cout tests skill learned with Assistant Scoutmaster / approved Troop Instructor.
  3. Scout has Assistant Scout Master sign off rank requirement in Scout Manual.
  4. Scout brings Scout Manual to the Advancement Team to be recorded in Troop database.  This can be done at every Troop meeting.
  5. Repeat steps above until all rank requirements for the rank are completed.  Multiple ranks may be worked on simultaneously.
  6. Scout contacts Advancement Team to validate completion of the rank requirements to be approved for their scout master conference.
  7. Advancement Team notifies Scout Master of the scout’s readiness for his scout master conference.
  8. Scout contacts the Scout Master to schedule his scout master conference and have his manual signed.
  9. Upon passing the scout master conference, Scout brings signed Scout Manual to the Advancement Team to be recorded in Troop database.
  10. Scout schedules his place on a Board of Review (held on the 1st  Monday of every month) with the Advancement Team.
  11. Merit badges and rank advancement patches are awarded at weekly meetings; Scout is formally re-recognized for all achievements at quarterly Court of Honor.

The following procedures have been developed to assist the Scouts and Adult leaders of Comanche District plan for Eagle Scout Leadership Service Projects and prepare for Eagle Scout Boards of Review. If there is any additional clarification that can be added to make this document more useful do not hesitate to contact me with inputs. This document is intended to be provided to adults working with scouts not necessarily the scouts themselves.

   You cannot study for an Eagle Board of Review. You have already spent your whole life preparing for it, making choices every day. One of those choices was to persevere to become an Eagle Scout. We will want to know why.

    The best preparation you can make for the Board is to be yourself, at your very best:

  • Put some time between your busy day and the Board.
