Fast Start for New Scouts
Program Objectives:
- Scouter Rank – within first two weeks of crossover/joining
- Tenderfoot Rank – within four months of crossover/joining
- 2nd Class – within nine months of crossover/joining
- 1st Class – within twelve – fourteen months of crossover/joining
Program Guidelines:
In order to achieve these ranks in a timely manner, participation by the scout in troop meetings, campouts, and summer camp are highly recommended. It is understood that perfect attendance is difficult and not expected. The attached schedule will help to keep the scout on course. Although as leaders we will try to keep up with individual scouts and their achievements, it is up to the scout to inform the leader when he is ready to be tested or instructed over missed opportunities.
Each scout will need to read in their handbook what will be covered at a meeting or campout prior to that meeting and campout. The scout will know what will be covered, by checking the attached schedule and calendar. It is also important that the scout bring their handbook to every meeting in order to have it signed off by a leader after he has tested on a particular advancement.
A known factor in a scout’s advancement is parental support and involvement. Our troop is totally run by volunteers. We need parents to help out with all aspects of the troop. Please consider getting involved. There are many opportunities, small or large, to help out.
