Ode to Philmont

The Ultimate Adventure :

 

A crew of young Boy Scouts and their leaders go on a life changing 10-day summertrek through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico.

 

They cover over 70 miles, hiking day to day, camp to camp.

 

They carry everything they needed to survive during the trek on their backs.

 

There is horseback riding, mountain biking, and gold prospecting.

 

There are steep climbs and inclement weather and blisters.

 

There is Mount Baldy at 12,440 feet.

 

There is laughter. There is hand baseball. There is root beer.

 

There are stars and stars and stars.

 

There is food, raiment, life, opportunity, friendship and fellowship.

 

There is the satisfaction of arriving back at base camp knowing what you have just accomplished.
